Rule verbage adjustments have been made in the text below.
These rules will be used for the 2008 and 2009 Racing Season.
 
Changes made from the 2007 verbage are highlighted in blue.

SECTION 10- MINI STOCK

SECTION 10- MINI STOCK

 

 

 

10.1            DEFINITION.

10.1.1       The word stock will mean unaltered as originally factory produced and installed for make. All Cars and trucks will be stock for make unless otherwise specified within these rules.

10.2            COMPETING MODELS.

10.2.1       1955 or newer 4 cylinder sedans, coupes, or pickups.

10.2.2       Any front or rear wheel drive, non-turbo 4 cylinder approved. Fiero models not approved.

10.3            ENGINES

10.3.1       Must be same make as the body. Must be Factory OEM block. Machining of surfaces approved.

10.3.2       Engine must remain in stock location. Tech discretion. Aftermarket solid motor mounts approved.

10.3.3       Only factory produced OEM parts and components will be approved unless otherwise specified.

10.3.4       Intake manifold will be stock for make with factory casting numbers. Interior manifold modifications approved.

10.3.5       Headers are approved.

10.3.6       Cylinder heads will be stock casting for make. Aluminum head approved only if stock OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Aftermarket production heads are not approved. Machining and surfacing approved. Porting of intake and exhaust ports approved.

10.3.7       Flywheel must retain factory casting numbers. Machining for the purpose of lightening is approved.

10.3.8       Clutch disc and pressure plate will be stock type replacement only. Ram type not allowed.

10.3.9       Rocker arm assembly optional.

10.3.10    Piston type optional.

10.3.11    Valves, and valve springs of any type may be used.

10.3.12    Fuel pumps must be factory type replacement. Electric pumps must have oil pressure shut off switch. (If engine dies, fuel pump must shut down immediately.) 

10.3.13    Solid or hydraulic camshaft and lifters of any manufacturer approved. Roller Cam and lifter not approved.

10.3.14    Adjustable cam gears are approved.

10.3.15    Oil pans may be over-sized, interior baffles allowed. Claimer pan approved.

10.3.16    Oil coolers and remote pump/filter locations are approved. Oil coolers must be mounted outside of the driver’s compartment. Must be located forward of the front firewall and rearward of the radiator.

10.3.17    Dry sump oil tanks are not approved.

 

10.3.18    CARBURETOR

10.3.18.1              One (1) two-barrel carburetor or two (2) one barrel carburetors allowed.

10.3.18.2              No variable venturi carburetors approved,. (i.e. predator)

10.3.18.3              Maximum 2” adapter or spacer plate allowed. Plate must be bolted or welded to the factory intake location of manifold only.

10.3.18.4              Two throttle return springs required.

10.3.18.5              Air cleaner or butterfly cover required, must be contained under the hood.

10.3.19    FUEL INJECTION

10.3.19.1                       Fuel injection cars are approved if; Engine, Chassis, and Body are of the same year make and model. (i.e. Dodge Neon, Honda Accord, Nissan Sentra),

10.3.19.2                       Injection motors must have OEM fuel log, stock intake tube and factory stock ignition and computer.

 

10.4            BODY SPECIFICATIONS

10.4.1       Body and chassis must be of the same make. (i.e Ford to Ford)

10.4.2       Floor pan and firewall are to remain stock and intact and in stock location, any penetrations or openings must be sealed with minimum 20 gauge metal and meet tech approval.

10.4.3       Body must be complete for declared make and model. No convertibles. Similar models may inter change body panels (ie Mustang/Pinto, terrcell/corrolla ect.) if  done in a clean, neat manner and resembles factory appeal.

10.4.4       Bodies to remain stock in appearance. No excessive trimming permitted. Destroyed panels must be replaced or repaired. Fabricated panels must be minimum 20 gauge metal and resemble, with out question, the part it replaces. Aluminum or fiberglass not permitted.

10.4.5       All holes or openings in body will be neatly filled or covered, (ie...taillights, head lights, door handle ect..)

10.4.6       Cutting or shortening of body to decrease height or length of body is only permitted in the case of chassis/body swap. Any cutting or shortening must be kept to a minimum an may only be approved to keep wheel opening in correct position or roll bar position at an optimum. Any cutting is subject to a weight penalty at tech discretion.

10.4.7       Fenders and quarter panels may be trimmed for tire clearance. Trimming not to exceed 3” from top of the tire. Edges must be rolled to meet DCS tech approval.

10.4.8       Windshield optional. If removed it is recommended that it is replaced with a maximum of ½” X ½” mesh screen covering the entire opening and be securely mounted. Lexan windshields are approved. Side and rear windows may be used. Lexan only (minimum 1/8”) is approved for use. Passenger door window will remain open for safety purposes.

10.4.9       Front inner fenders may be removed. Both inner door panels may be removed. All other inner panels may be removed. Hood and rear deck lid may be skinned.

10.4.10    Inner panels in trunk area may be removed.

10.4.11    Doors will be securely welded or bolted shut.

10.4.12    Hood and rear deck lid will be securely fastened using (4) four hood pins or (2) two hood pins and (2) two hinges. NUTS AND BOLTS ARE NOT APPROVED FOR SECURING HOOD OR DECK LID.

10.4.13    Hood may be altered for air cleaner clearance purposes only. Exposed air cleaner is permitted. Fabricated enclosures may be used to cover exposed air cleaners, material optional.

10.4.14     Factory or fabricated rear spoiler permitted, fabricated rear spoiler will be a maximum 4”, as measured from the top of the rear deck lid. Spoiler may not exceed the width of the rear deck.

10.4.15    Exterior nerf bars optional. Nerfing not to extend more than 1 ½” past the body skin at any time, ends must be capped or welded shut. Nerfing allowed on both sides, between front and rear tires only. 1 ½” O.D. round or maximum 1” X 2” square tubing is the only approved material for exterior nerfing.

 

10.5            BUMPERS

10.5.1       Bumpers will be stock automotive type bumper of any manufacturer.

10.5.2       Fabricated tube style bumper may be used if covered by a factory stock rubber bumper cover or After-market front bumper cover.

10.5.3       All rear bumper covers will be stock or aftermarket for make.

10.5.4       Front and rear bumpers will be strapped to the fenders or quarter panels with a minimum 2” x 1/8” thick steel strap, unless covered by a bumper cover. Strap should be securely bolted or welded in place from the outside edge of the bumper to the outside edge of the body. Subject to tech approval.

10.5.5       Height of bumpers are to be compatible with other cars. Tech discretion.

10.5.6       All cars are to have tow hooks or tow points at the front and rear of car.

10.5.7       Front bumper may be reinforced for radiator protection.

 

10.6            ROLL CAGE

10.6.1       A minimum six-point roll cage is mandatory.

10.6.2       Bars will be a minimum 1 ½” OD roll cage tubing with a minimum thickness of .095 wall.

10.6.3       Gussets are required on all 90-degree joints.

10.6.4       Cage must have a minimum of three (3) door bars on the drivers side and 2 on the passenger side.

10.6.5       ¼” inspection hole to be provided in the main bar.

10.6.6       Any bar within drivers reach while belted into the seat will be padded with industry standard roll bar padding.

10.6.7       Unibody. Roll cage must be securely fastened to the floorboards by welding 1/8” thick minimum plate, 4” X 8” or 6” X 6” on top and/or underneath the floorboards using 3/8” bolts per mounting, or cage may be directly integrated into the sub frame at all main points with full circumference welds.

10.6.8       Front hoops allowed to penetrate the firewall. Hoop bracing behind the upper A-arms is approved. Radiator support may be integrated into the hoop.

 

10.7            TRANSMISSION

10.7.1       Automatic transmission use is optional.

10.7.2       Transmission must me same make as body and engine.

10.7.3       Torque converters will stock stall speed.

10.7.4       Transmission coolers and cooler lines shall be contained outside of the driver’s compartment. It also must be located in front of the front firewall or behind the rear firewall, no exceptions.

10.7.5       Manual gearboxes will be stock for make with no alterations.

10.7.6       NHRA approved explosion proof bell housing for manuals or a transmission blanket for automatics is recommended.

 

10.8            REAR END

10.8.1       Any rear end may be used, all mounting points must be made to be direct bolt in to receiving car. Quick change rear ends are not approved. Gusseting from the pumpkin to the axel housing is permitted.

10.8.2       Gear ratio optional.

10.8.3       Welding, mini spool or full spool may lock differentials.

10.8.4       No posi-trac, limited slip, Gold trac or Detroit Lockers.

10.8.5       Floater rear ends not approved.

10.8.6       Aftermarket axel allowed on the RR.

 

10.9            SUSPENSION / CHASSIS

10.9.1       Only 4 cylinder, 4 passenger vehicle, foreign or domestic car or truck permitted.

10.9.2       RWD or FWD permitted. 4WD not permitted

10.9.3       Frame and/or Unibody must be maintained for structural integrity from front to rear suspension. This means that the stock floor pan will be complete from the front firewall to the rear firewall.

10.9.4       Wheel base will remain stock for the chassis/floor pan being used.

10.9.5       All suspension components will be stock for make of chassis unless otherwise specified in these rules.

10.9.6       Chassis mount or suspension parts may not be altered to accept or be accepted in to stock location.

10.9.7       Hubs or rotors may be redressed to accommodate 5 lug wheels and larger lug studs. FOR SAFETY PURPOSES ONLY.

10.9.8       Drilling, grinding or machining of suspension parts for the purpose of reducing weight is permitted.

10.9.9       Shocks and struts must be stock type and mount in stock location. Notching of RF Strut tower bolt holes is permitted for camber adjustment. Stock Towers will remain in place but may be trimmed. Support may be integrated through the front hoop. Aftermarket camber plates may be used.

10.9.10    Front coil spring type, size and height is optional. No adjustable spacers on top of the spring allowed. No weight jacking bolts or devices of any kind allowed.

10.9.11    Torsion bars will be stock or stock type replacement only.

10.9.12    Leaf spring cars will remain leaf spring cars. Stacks may be altered. Any spacers or lowering blocks used in the leaf stack must be securely mounted. Front and rear mounts will be stock. No threaded or adjustable jacking devices approved. Adjustable rear shackles are approved.

10.9.13    Rear coils springs of any type approved. Shims or spacers may be used to raise or lower either corner of the car.  No threaded or adjustable jacking devices approved. Spring pockets may not be altered or replaced and will remain in stock location.

10.9.14    All suspension parts will be stock for make replacement or OEM dimension replacement parts unless otherwise noted.

10.9.15    Sway bar type, mounting and location is optional.

10.9.16    Use of twisties and spring rubbers are approved.

10.9.17    Redress, drilling and grinding deemed an non-performance enhancing safety upgrade will be allowed, subject to tech approval.

10.9.18    Poly or steel bushings approved for front or rear components.

10.9.19    Front and rear shocks must be stock or stock type replacement and mount in stock location, on stock mounts.

 

10.10         BRAKES

10.10.1    All four corners must be stock and in working order. Stock swaps of the same make for larger or disc brakes allowed in front.

10.10.2    Rear disc brakes are not allowed, unless stock for make and model of rear end being used

10.10.3    All brake components will be stock for chassis being used unless otherwise provided in these rules. Includes master cylinders, calipers, rotors and hubs.

10.10.4    Shoes and pads are optional provided they are used in stock caliper or drum.

 

10.11         WHEELS

10.11.1    Steel wheel not to exceed 8” in width.

10.11.2    Heavy duty, aftermarket or racing style wheels are recommended on all four corners.

10.11.3    Minimum ½” wheel studs mandatory on the right front wheel

10.11.4    13”, 14” or 15 wheels are approved.

10.11.5    Back spacing is optional.

 

10.12         TIRES

10.12.1    Maximum 205 series tire street legal tire, DOT approved.

10.12.2    Tread compound softer than 380 will not be permitted. Compound branding on tire being used must be painted orange.

10.12.3    Minimum tread depth of 2/32.

10.12.4    Chemical softening of tires is prohibited.

10.12.5    Tire must be of a manufacturer approved by DCS Entertainment Inc. Approved manufacturers to be determined as provided by addendum.

10.12.6    Tires may not extend outward beyond the fender more than 3” from the widest part of the fender well.

 

10.12    RADIATOR

10.13.1    One radiator of any type allowed.

10.13.2    Must mount in stock location and be contained under the hood and may not interfere with body lines.

10.13.3    Mounting optional.

10.13.4    One quart over flow tank required.

 

10.14    FUEL SUPPLY

10.14.1    Commercially produced fuel cell is mandatory. See Speedway Minimum Specifications for installation instructions.

10.14.2    Rubber line passing through the driver’s compartment will be contained in conduit or pipe from the front firewall to the rear firewall.  Braided steel high pressure fuel line approved.

10.14.3    Fuel pumps must be factory type replacement. Electric pumps must have oil pressure shut off switch. (If engine dies, fuel pump must shut down immediately.)

10.14.4    Pump fuel, racing fuels and Av-gas approved. No alcohol or additives approved.

 

10.15    ELECTRICAL

10.15.1    Any coil type, battery powered ignition approved.

10.15.2    Magnetos not approved.

10.15.3    Alternator is optional. Car must start on it’s own power.

10.15.4    See section 3, Speedway Minimum Specifications for battery mounting requirements.

 

10.16    EXHAUST

10.16.1    Mufflers will be mandatory

10.16.2    Headers are approved.

10.16.3    Exhaust systems that enter the drivers compartment will be completely enclosed with minimum 22 gauge sheet metal. Shielding the driver, pit crew and safety crew from being burned.

10.16.4    Exhaust must exit behind the driver and be no more than 16” from the ground as measured from the top of the exhaust pipe. Exhaust must exit behind and away from the driver and away from the fuel supply.

 

10.17    SEAT

10.17.1    Aluminum racing seat required. Steel framework around the seat is recommended. Installation is subject to tech approval.

 

10.18    ENGINE FAN

10.18.1    Mechanical or electric fan only, after-market allowed.

10.18.2    Fan must be shrouded, must cover both sides and top.

 

10.19    FIRE EXTINGUISHER

10.19.1    Participants car must be equipped with a 2 ½ lb fire extinguisher within easy reach of the driver
